Mitch Brigando '17

Mitch Brigando helped lead one of the most successful programs in St. Joseph’s College history. During his four years as a pitcher for SJC Brooklyn baseball, the team amassed 89 wins, including three 20-plus win seasons. Brigando went 8-1 on the mound his sophomore season, when the Bears finished fourth at the U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association Small College World Series.

The right-handed hurler leaves his mark on the Bears as the program’s all-time leader in wins, shutouts and appearances, compiling a career 19-8 mark with three shutouts and 12 complete games. He struck out 146 batters, second most in Bears history, and recorded a 3.05 ERA that ranks as third lowest all-time at SJC Brooklyn.

Brigando was the team’s ace during his senior season, recording a 5-1 mark and logging 44.1 innings – second best for wins and innings pitched in the Skyline Conference. Brigando’s season was highlighted by a 10-strikeout, completegame victory over Purchase College – falling one strikeout shy of the single-game Bears record that he already shared. Mitch was named Skyline Pitcher of the Week this season after collecting a pair of wins over the College of Mount Saint Vincent and Yeshiva University and recording 12 scoreless innings of work.

The Brooklyn, N.Y., native earned Association of Division III Independents Pitcher of the Year and First Team honors after his a breakout sophomore campaign, in which he recorded a 2.44 ERA and 39 strikeouts on his way to eight wins.

For his efforts off the mound, the graduating business administration major earned a spot on the Skyline Academic Honor Roll last year and was named to the Bears inaugural Scholar-Athlete Team this past January
