Bears Volleyball Drops Hard-Fought Conference Match to Sarah Lawrence
St. Joseph's (0-3. 0-2 HVMAC) dropped a 3-1 (25-21, 28-26, 18-25, 25-23) decision to Sarah Lawrence College in a close match that featured 46 ties and 19 lead changes. Raul Urshela and Martin Torres led the Bears with 13 kills apiece.

Muhammad Ali Bhatti of the Bears volleyball team from the Class of 2012, was recently recognized as the 2012 statistical champion in aces per set, averaging 0.71 to lead Division III men's volleyball.

Top 10 Moments: #8 – Multi-Purpose Facility Construction Commences
After years of waiting by the SJC Brooklyn community, construction on a new multi-purpose facility commenced on May 22, 2012. The new facility will house NCAA-regulation basketball and volleyball courts, a fitness center and locker rooms, and will be the first true on-campus athletics venue in the Brooklyn campus' history.

Eight Named to National Non-USCAA Sport All-Academic Team
Seniors Elizabeth Fiorella, Kristen McMaster, Catherine Muldoon, Alison Nunziata, Abigail Verbil, junior Laura Sonnylal, and sophomore Demi Herman of the women's swimming team and senior Maciej Sadowski of the men's volleyball team were named to the USCAA National Non-USCAA Sport Winter All-Academic Team. To date, 16 Bears and Lady Bears have received National All-Academic Honors this season.

Bears Volleyball Falls in HVMAC Semis, Urshela, Torres Named All-Conference
Raul Urshela had nine kills and Martin Torres had four kills as the Bears fell to eventual champion Cooper Union in the HVMAC Volleyball Tournament semifinals on Thursday night. Both were named to the 2012 All-Conference Team after the conclusion of the tournament.

St. Joseph's picked up its second win in seven days over Webb Institute 3-1. The Bears won the final three sets after falling behind in the match 1-0. Martin Torres finished with a game-high 15 kills and Raul Urshela finished with 14. Muhammad Ali-Bhatti, Raymond Morales and Michael Miner each had double-digit digs and Iqbal Husain handed out 30 assists.
