Bears Athletic Hall of Fame to Induct Chris Distefano ’06 on Alumni and Family Day

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — On Sunday, January 21, 2018, the newest member of the Bears Athletic Hall of Fame will be enshrined as Chris Distefano '06 will be inducted during a special ceremony at halftime of the men's basketball game against the United States Merchant Marine Academy, scheduled for a 2 p.m. tip-off.

Over his four-year career on the men's basketball team from 2002-06, Distefano averaged 15.4 points per game, amassing 1,865 points—a mark that stands second all-time on record—and has his name remains sprinkled among the Bears career top 10 in nearly all major statistical categories.

The two-time United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) All-American helped the Bears to three USCAA National Tournament appearances, leading the Bears to a program-best national runner-up finish in 2003 and a No. 1 ranking in 2006.

Distefano is now better known for his work on the comedy scene, touring at many high profile comedy clubs nationwide, such as Carolines on Broadway, and having appeared on various shows on MTV, MTV2, Netflix, Comedy Central, and IFC. He currently can be seen as a co-host of Ultimate Beastmaster season two, which can be viewed on Netflix.

In addition to the special induction ceremony for Distefano at the halftime of men's basketball game, all SJC Brooklyn alumni are cordially invited to return to campus for Alumni and Family Day, an annual fun-filled day of games and activities for all ages!

The alumni basketball game begins the day at 11 a.m. followed by the pregame party (featuring tailgate food and refreshments) with open gym and activities for all ages. Admission for Alumni and Family Day is $10 and free for all children under 10 years old. To register or for more information, visit the Office of Alumni Engagement. Admission to the men's basketball game and all Bears home games at the Hill Center is free.
