Skyline Announces Spring 2023 All-Sportsmanship Teams

NEW YORK — A trio of St. Joseph's University, N.Y. (Brooklyn) student-athletes were recognized on Spring 2023 Skyline Conference All-Sportsmanship teams, as announced by the league office on Friday afternoon.

The conference recognizes All-Sportsmanship Team members in all 19 of its championship sports, with each program announcing one recipient for his or her sportsmanlike demeanor – both in and out of competition.

Men's Volleyball: Lordnel Saint-Jean (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund Prep)
The outside hitter saw statistical improvement in his senior campaign, compiling 95 digs, 36 kills, and eight service aces. He concluded his career with 140 digs, 52 kills, and 14 service aces.

Softball: Emily Burroughs (Escondido, Calif./San Pasqual)
Headlined by a 2-for-2 showing against MCLA and a 3-for-4 contest against St. Joseph's (Long Island), Burroughs ranked near the top of the team in on-base percentage, batting average, and slugging. The senior batted 5-for-8 in the Bears' Skyline Championship run.

Baseball: Michael Gardener (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale)
The sophomore second baseman finished second on the side with 28 RBI, third with 100 at-bats and 41 hits, and fifth with a .425 slugging percentage. Gardener batted 6-for-10 with 10 RBI in a doubleheader against Yeshiva in March while going 5-for-9 against sibling school St. Joseph's (Long Island).
