17 Student-Athletes Receive HVIAC Winter/Spring All-Academic Team Honors
BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Seventeen student-athletes from St. Joseph’s College (Brooklyn) were honored by the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) as members of its Winter/Spring All-Academic Team in recognition of their academic achievements at the conclusion of the spring semester.
St. Joseph's was well represented, placing the second-most student-athletes on the 67-person team, comprised of the 10-institution conference. Senior David Louison, the HVIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Year and three-time All-Academic Team honoree, highlights six All-Conference Team members in their respective sports – Kristin Ferrigno (softball), Michael Megafu (men's basketball), Nolan Parr (men's tennis), Samantha Rossi (softball), Raul Urshela (men's volleyball). Nine were repeat honorees, four of whom were seniors who received the distinction the maximum three times over their athletic careers.
For the 2014-15 academic year, St. Joseph's College placed a league second-best 33 student-athletes on the HVIAC All-Academic teams with six multi-sport athletes also appearing on the Fall Academic Team.
The All-Academic Team consists of student-athletes who have reached sophomore academic standing and have earned a 3.5 cumulative grade point average or better at the conclusion of the spring semester, and participate in one of the conference's fall sports – men's and women's basketball, women's swimming, men's volleyball, men's tennis and softball.
