Schwartz Knocks Three Hits In Baseball Twin-bill at Cabrini

RADNOR, Pa. — Junior Adam Schwartz (Staten Island, N.Y./Susan E. Wagner) hit successfully in both ends of a non-conference doubleheader at Cabrini belting two doubles and driving in the lone run as the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) baseball team fell 6-0 and 16-1 on Saturday afternoon. Michael Gonzalez (Brooklyn, N.Y./Midwood) also hit in both ends finishing with a double and a run scored.

  • Cabrini scored first with a three-run second inning, Joe Aurite's two-RBI double providing all the run support needed for the hosts.
  • Adam Schwartz, Anthony Palermo (Patchogue, N.Y./Sachem North) and Michael Gonzalez knocked the only three hits for the Bears—Schwartz knocking a double in the sixth.
  • Bears starter Andrew Watters (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xaverian) held the Cavaliers to just four hits over 5 ⅓ innings of work, but the hosts manufactured five runs, tacking on three more runs in the sixth.

  • Back-to-back doubles by Gonzalez and Schwartz to lead off game two gave the Bears their first lead of the day.
  • SJC lead for one-and-a-half, before the hosts piled on five runs in the second, two in the third and seven in the fourth to take a control of the game, finishing with 16 runs and 17 hits in the contest.
  • Schwartz finished with a pair of hits, leading the Bears with three knocks on the day. Anthony Palermo and Andrew Watters collected the other Bears hits.
