KANSAS CITY, MO – In an announcement that honored the closing career of one of St. Joseph’s most talented basketball players and also showcased the future of the team, senior Donald Coleman (Brooklyn, NY/Nazareth) and sophomore Jan Rogowski (Woodside, NY/St. John's Prep) were handed awards for their 2010-2011 seasons from the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I). The Association announced that Coleman made the second team All-Independent and Rogowski was an honorable mention.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY – For the fifth time in the last six years, the St. Joseph’s College men’s basketball team met archrivals Berkeley College in the HVMAC Championship and for the first time the Bears entered as underdogs carrying the #3 seed and were unable to upset the top seeded Knights who shot a blistering 63 percent en route to a 91-62 victory for their fourth title.

STATEN ISLAND, NY – Behind a season-best 54 percent shooting, which included a school-record 17 three pointers, the St. Joseph’s College men’s basketball team earned a hard fought 103-102 victory over the College of Staten Island on Tuesday night. Three Bears finished with 20 plus points, led by Jan Rogowski (Woodside, NY/St. John's Prep) who had 24 points with Johnny Mendez (Astoria, NY/St. John's Prep) adding 23 and Jon Matzelle (Maspeth, NY/St. Francis Prep) 21.

BROOKLYN, NY – Senior Donald Coleman (Brooklyn, NY/Nazareth) recorded a double-double in his final game as a Bear before the home crowd but the Bears couldn’t send off Coleman and fellow senior Jon Matzelle (Maspeth, NY/St. Francis Prep) with a win, suffering a 77-70 setback to Lancaster Bible on Saturday night and their fourth straight loss.

ALBANY, NY – Senior Donald Coleman (Brooklyn, NY/Nazareth) scored a career-high 32 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Bears were staved off by Albany Pharmacy, 93-83. Freshman Jan Rogowski (Woodside, NY/St. John's Prep) added 24 points in just the fourth conference loss for the Bears in the last six years. St. Joseph’s falls to 6-15 on the year and 4-2 in the Hudson Valley Men’s Athletic Conference.

The last time the Bears had six players with 10+ points was just over a year ago to the day, February 1st, 2010, against CCNY.

BROOKLYN, NY – St. Joseph’s was 10-0 all time in the regular season against Berkeley College and 8-0 at home. The undefeated streaks ended there though, as the Bears fell to the Knights, 70-69, Saturday night, in a HVMAC contest that came down to the final seconds. Number 20 St. Joseph’s outscored the fourth ranked Knights by 11 in the second half, but was unable to overcome a 13 point deficit and dropped to 4-14 (2-1 HVMAC) on the year.

BROOKLYN, NY – The St. Joseph’s men’s basketball team kicked off a stretch of five straight HVMAC games with a convincing win over the Culinary Institute of America, 80-51. Four players scored in double figures and senior Jon Matzelle (Maspeth, NY/St. Francis Prep) played 20 minutes in his first game since the January 5th game at the Prudential Center. The Bears improve to 4-13 on the year and are 2-0 in conference play.

Despite the eight point margin and having trailed the final 15 minutes, the Bears gave the Scarlet Raptors all they could handle before ultimately falling to 3-13 (1-0 HVMAC) on the year.
