Top 10 Moments: #5 – Men's Basketball Crowned HVIAC Champions

Powered by a pair of 20-plus point games from junior David Louison and sophomore Michael Megafu and 66 percent shooting as a team, the top-seeded Men's Basketball team defeated Vaughn College with a 92-76 victory to capture the 2014 Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship.

The Bears used a 19-2 first-half run to break open a one-point game and cruised to their third conference title in school history and first since 2010.

Louison finished with 25 points and 17 rebounds, both game highs, en route to his 16th double-double of the season, earning him Tournament MVP honors.

Megafu added 22 points on 9-of-11 shooting and grabbed six rebounds and  while junior guard Vernon Maddox chipped in a career-high 19 points.

Louison, Megafu and Maddox would later be named to the HVIAC All-Conference Team. Louison and Megafu would collect a long list of awards, sharing AD3I Co-Player of the Year honors, and both named USCAA All-Americans, Louison a first team selection and Megafu a second team honoree.

Guiding the Bears to a 7-0 record in HVIAC play and 18-9 overall record – the most wins since the 2006-07 season – head coach Joseph Cocozello was named the HVIAC and AD3I Coach of the Year.
