Brigando and Candelaria Honored as Outstanding Student-Athletes at Golf Classic

ROSLYN HARBOR, N.Y. — On Thursday, June 1, St. Joseph's College hosted the 27th Annual Golf Classic. The event was held at the Engineer's Club, located in Roslyn, NY, with all proceeds supporting the Departments of Athletics of St. Joseph's College.

With sunny skies and warm weather, this year's outing brought together staff, students, alumni and college supporters for a fun-filled day.

As part of the annual event, four student-athletes—two from SJC Long Island and two from SJC Brooklyn—were recognized as Outstanding Student-Athletes. Honorees are selected who demonstrate academic and athletic success, as well as campus and community impact over their time as student-athletes.

Graduating seniors Kristen Candelaria (women's basketball, soccer and cross country) and Mitch Brigando (baseball) were honored as the 2017 Outstanding Brooklyn Student-Athletes and seniors Kelly Roberts (women's cross country) and Fernando Vazquez (men's basketball) were selected as the Outstanding Long Island Student-Athletes.
