Five Bears Honored on Skyline Conference Fall All-Sportsmanship Teams

NEW YORK — Five members of St. Joseph's University, NY (Brooklyn) fall athletic teams were named to the Skyline Conference All-Sportsmanship teams, as announced by the league office on Friday afternoon. The conference recognizes All-Sportsmanship Team members in all 19 of its championship sports, with each program announcing one recipient for his or her sportsmanlike demeanor – both in and out of competition.

Men's Cross Country: Aaron De Leon (Glendale, N.Y./Cathedral Prep)

De Leon took part in each of the six meets this season. Improving on his times from the previous meet, he completed the 8k Skyline Conference Championship course in 36 minutes; a minute and 20 seconds faster than his Mount Saint Mary Invite finish on the same course.

Women's Cross Country: Raquel Ramirez (Woodhaven, N.Y./St. Francis Prep)

The senior was the first Bear to cross the finish line at the Mount Saint Mary Invitational and the NJIT Highlander Challenge. She clocked in her fastest time of the season at the latter meet (26:30).

Men's Soccer: Lorenzo LaRosa (Astoria, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy)

In his first season, LaRosa dished out four assists, good for third on the team. He scored his first collegiate goal in a 5-0 win against Old Westbury.

Women's Soccer: Casey Hobbs (Surprise, Ariz./Valley Vista)

Hobbs started each of the Bears' 16 matches, scoring three goals and handing out as many assists. SJBK holds a 4-0 record in games where the Arizona native registers a point.

Women's Volleyball: Martina Urgo (Astoria, N.Y./St. John's Prep)

The sophomore finished her season as the team leader in kills (126). Urgo also came in second in digs (188) and service aces (31).

The St. Joseph's University, NY (Brooklyn) athletic department would like to congratulate our five All-Sportsmanship recipients.
