Five Bears Selected to 2010 AD3I All-Independent Baseball Teams

OVERLAND PARK, KS – In a release announcing the 2010 Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) All-Independent Baseball Teams, five Bears received post-season recognition, with sophomore outfielder Kevin Diaz (Staten Island, NY/Monsignor Farrell) and senior third-baseman Chris Davidson (San Carlos, CA/Carlmont) honored as First Team All-Independent selections.
Hernandez Named to USCAA All-Academic Baseball Team

Bears Fall to John Jay In Season Finale

BROOKLYN, NY – The St. Joseph’s College baseball team concluded their 2010 campaign suffering a 14-7 setback to John Jay on Wednesday afternoon at MCU Park, home of the Brooklyn Cyclones. With the loss, the teams split the season series, 1-1. Sophomore first baseman Anthony Langone (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) led the Bears with a pair of hits, driving in two runs.

BRONX, NY – Anthony Langone (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) hit a solo home run with two outs in the top of the ninth inning to lift the St. Joseph’s College baseball team to a 16-15 non-conference victory over Baruch College in a wild contest that saw eight lead changes, 31 runs, 35 hits and 15 errors.
Bears Outlast Staten Island in Marathon Battle

STATEN ISLAND, NY – In a game that lasted 12 innings and three hours and 45 minutes, the longest in program history, the St. Joseph’s College baseball team defeated the College of Staten Island, 5-4, in the opener of a non-conference twinbill on Thursday night at the CSI Baseball Complex. CSI led from the outset in the nightcap to earn a split, 9-1.

WASHINGTON, DC – Chris Davidson (San Carlos, CA/Carlmont) tossed a two-hit shutout and had six hits and five RBI at the plate leading the St. Joseph’s College baseball team to their first sweep of the season, defeating Gallaudet 15-3 and 22-0 on Saturday afternoon at Hoy Field.

BRONX, NY – Sophomore outfielder Kevin Diaz (Staten Island, NY/Monsignor Farrell) homered three times in the opener of a doubleheader against Lehman College helping erase a five-run deficit to lead the St. Joseph’s College baseball team to a 15-12 victory. In the nightcap, the Bears led by as many as seven runs, but could not hold off the Lightning who chipped away at the lead, overcoming the Bears in their final at bat, 11-10.
