NEW YORK, NY – In the inaugural Hudson Valley Women’s Athletic Conference (HVWAC) All-Academic Team for the Fall Semester, four Lady Bears have been honored with the award. Kristen Bauman (Crystal Lake, IL/Prairie Ridge), Hannah Darnell (Nashville, TN/Siegel ), Joanna Marciniec (Glendale, NY/Baruch) and Yliane Ulloa (Queens, NY/Midwood) have been rewarded for their efforts in the classroom and in their respective sports.

NEW YORK, NY – In the opening round of the 2010 Hudson Valley Women’s Athletic Conference Volleyball Tournament, the #4 St. Joseph’s College women’s volleyball team dismissed the #5 Yeshiva Maccabees in straight sets, 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-17), repeating the result from their regular season encounter. Senior outside hitter Yliane Ulloa (Queens, NY/Midwood) paced the Lady Bears with 15 kills and a season-high .467 hitting percentage.

BROOKLYN, NY - The St. Joseph’s College women’s volleyball team, looking for their sixth HVWAC Championship in seven years, received some good news last night as Pratt defeated Yeshiva in the final conference game of the year. The Cannoneers victory launched the Lady Bears from the #5 seed to the #4 seed, thus setting up an opening round match against the Yeshiva Maccabees Thursday night at Hunter College at 8:30 pm.

This is the second time this season Matthews has been selected as the Rookie of the Week, also receiving the honor for the week of September 22.

The Lady Bears are now 4-12 on the year and 1-2 in the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference, while the Gryphons are 3-8 and 1-1 in conference play. Senior Yliane Ulloa (Queens, NY/Midwood) had a match-high 16 kills and fell a dig shy of a double-double.

BROOKLYN, NY - The St. Joseph’s College women’s volleyball team picked up their third victory of the season Tuesday night, thanks in part to career games from junior outside hitter Kim Matthews (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Kearney) and senior setter Melissa Simo (Brooklyn, NY/Midwood). The Lady Bears disposed of the Pratt Cannoneers in five sets, 22-25, 25-10, 25-22, 18-25, 15-11.
