NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Four student-athletes from St. Joseph’s were honored for their academic achievements during the fall season. Mike Cundari (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's), Hannah Darnell (Nashville, TN/Siegel ) and Joanna Marciniec (Glendale, NY/Baruch) from cross country and Kathy McCarthy (Breezy Point, NY/Fontbonne Hall) from women's volleyball were recently named to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National All-Academic Teams.

OVERLAND PARK, KS – After leading the St. Joseph’s College (Brooklyn) women’s volleyball team to their first winning season in three years and a runner up finish in the Hudson HVWAC Championship, Kim Matthews, Megan Moran and Sabrina Cornia were recently named to the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) All-Independent Volleyball teams.

BROOKLYN, NY – The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) recognized two Lady Bears players after their week of excellent performances culminating in the 2011 HVWAC Championships. Senior outside hitter Kim Matthews (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Kearney) and sophomore setter Sabrina Cornia (Miller Place, NY/Miller High) were respectively named USCAA Player of the Week and USCAA Setter of the Week.

BROOKLYN, NY - St. Joseph's hosted Staten Island on Senior Night and sent their two seniors, Kim Matthews and Kathy McCarthy, off in style with a 3-0 win over the Dolphins. Matthews had a game high 13 kills and 11 digs while McCarthy finished with five kills and seven digs.
